New York Helicopter Tour FAQs
How do I schedule a helicopter tour?
Simply book online to secure your reservation. Our website has SSL certification which assures the safety of all transactions. Once the helicopter tour is confirmed, you will receive a follow-up email with exact instructions and times of departure. Please be sure to bring a valid photo id with you to your tour.
Why can’t I choose a specific time for my helicopter tour?
When you book your helicopter tour, you will receive 2 emails:
1. Booking Notification
2. Helicopter Confirmation
The second email, the Helicopter Confirmation will serve as the official reservation email. The second email typically arrives within 24 hours after booking and it includes the specific time of your helicopter tour. This email will also include your official reservation sheet attached as a PDF file. Additionally, it will include the operations telephone number for any questions or changes you might have.
Are the flights safe?
Yes! In addition to having a new and state-of-the-art fleet of helicopters, all of our helicopters use the Terminal Collision Avoidance System.
Are your pilots experienced?
Yes, once again! All of our pilots are highly trained and experienced. We only use FAA certified (http://www.faa.gov/) pilots who have logged thousands of hours of flight time. If you are familiar with FAA certification, then you already realize that the process is nothing short of extraordinary. You couldn’t be in safer hands than Helicopter New York City.
How many people can a helicopter tour accommodate?
The helicopters at New York City Helicopter Tours will accommodate up to 6 passengers.
Are the prices for a individual?
Yes. All prices listed on the site are per person.

What should I expect if my flight is canceled due to inclement weather?

In this situation, we will work to reschedule your flight for a day and time that is convenient for you. If for some reason, we cannot find a suitable time for your trip, we will refund your credit card in full.
Do you offer limousine services?
No. However, if you are staying in a New York City hotel, taxis are readily available at anytime.
May I purchase at the heliport on the day I want to take my helicopter ride?
If there is space available, you may purchase at the heliport on the day of the helicopter tour. HOWEVER, Helicopter tours are similar to airline seats, if you do not have a ticket when you arrive then you are essentially flying stand-by. A seat may be available or it might not. Pre-book to ensure you have a seat. Otherwise, you may end up waiting hours for an empty seat or even worse, having to leave without a seat opening up.
I want to purchase a helicopter tour for someone else. What kind of gift certificates do you offer?
Simply insert the gift recipient’s name in the lead traveler box on the checkout page. You may use your email address or theirs to receive the order confirmation and reservation sheet. Just remember to forward the reservation sheet (this will be the second email you receive with a PDF attachment) to the person for whom you bought the helicopter tour. The reservation sheet will serve as the ‘gift certificate’. It has all of the necessary information a gift recipient needs to redeem or change their tour.
Are there weight restrictions?
Typically, if you are able to sit comfortably in an economy seat on an airplane, and you are able to buckle the seat belt without an extender, you are probably ok to fly in the helicopter. There are probably exceptions to this, but generally speaking this is a good gauge as to whether you are able to fly in a helicopter.
Are children allowed on the helicopter tours, and what is the cost?
Yes, children of all ages are permitted to fly. Any child under the age of 2 years old may fly at no charge. Flight regulations state that regular charges apply to all children over the age of 2 years old.
What helicopter do you use for the helicopter tours?
We use the respected and reliable Bell 407. Read more about this internationally respected state of the art workhorse in our Aircraft section.
Do you offer airport transfers?
We do not currently sell airport transfers… only helicopter tours.
What is the Heliport Fee?
This charge is $20 and mostly covers security costs. The Heliport fee is charged by the downtown Manhattan heliport. It will be assessed when you arrive at the Heliport.
Where can I park?
If you are seeking to park near the Downtown Heliport, we recommend the South Street Seaport, which is just a short walk away from your point of departure.
What about the subway?
The heliport is located just steps away from the 1 train at the South Ferry stop and the R train at the Whitehall stop.
